On February 13, the Center for European Studies-IE, in collaboration with IE Law School and under the direction of Daniel Sarmiento – référendaire at the European Court of Justice, organized the first seminar of the Global Judicial Forum 2012, entitled “Appointing judges at the European Court of Justice” with Eleanor Sharpston, Advocate General European Court of Justice and Aída Torres, Professor of Constitutional Law at Pompeu Farbre University (Barcelona).
Issues like the reforms introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon regarding the selection and the appointment of judges and advocates of the European Court of Justice or the creation of the Committee, provided in the article 255 TFUE were discussed during the debate with the audience.
