The goal of the Center for European Studies at IE (CES/IE) is to innovate and contribute in research, teaching and public debate in the field of European integration. CES/IE is a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence.
The CES/IE enjoys the backing of the European Commission (Decision 2009-3241/001-001).
Conferences and public debates
The Center organizes academic conferences and seminars coupled with open debate aimed at fostering discussions that are both diverse and informed.
Research
The Center serves as a platform for advanced research on European integration. The Center's fellows are international experts in their areas of specialization.
The Center regularly publishes multidisciplinary studies and working papers sponsored by the Jean Monnet-IE Chair.
Courses
The Center designs and implements European integration modules for graduate and postgraduate programs run by IE University. It also runs European Studies programs for foreign students and summer courses in Madrid and Segovia.
Debates on the Net at BlogEuropa.eu
The Center actively supports the efforts of BlogEuropa.eu, a Europen weblog for public debate on the European integration process. The blog was created in 2006 by José M. de Areilza and is regarded as one of the most innovative platforms for debate on the EU on the blogsphere.
The blog promotes the participation of citizens in European debates, having held over twenty seminars with top experts. www.BlogEuropa.eu
IE University Libraries
The Center has created "European Corners" in IE's libraries, on both the Madrid and Segovia campuses.
This initiative enables access to an extensive catalogue of library resources in both print and digital format, in the fields of European Union law, EU economy, EU foreign affairs, etc.
